Stephanie:
Stephanie worked in the Peace Corps as a volunteer English teacher at a Romanian middle
school in the town of Sebes, a small town deep inside Transylvania. She completed her two-year term of service there in June 2002. Over the course of her stay,
she sent numerous e-mails and pictures to her family and friends detailing her experiences.
This site began as an attempt to create a sort of Gestalt from all of the e-mails, letters, postcards,
and pictures (She was once a professional photographer.) received since her arrival and bring
it all together in one place.

Myself:
I first met Stephanie in 1998 during her training in another unrelated overseas volunteer program. Since then, she has corresponded
fairly regularly with me, as she does
with many other people, but as far as I know, I am the only one who has made her a website. On May 6 2001, she invited me to visit her. Needless to say,
I jumped at the opportunity and last January hopped in a plane to go see her, and of course, Romania. I stayed for three weeks and visited her home and the
school where she taught, taking many pictures along the way.

This Site:
Although the site is not authored by Stephanie herself, most of it is about her in her own words and with her own pictures. That is beginning to change a little as I gradually introduce
material of my own provided by my recent visit to her (e.g. the Coat Saga, written at 3 am). Since the site was originally put together when Stephanie was still residing in Romania (a broadband free country), it was authored in a very simple and fast-loading format. Most of the people who visit it now are her ex-students and Romanian friends, so the simple format will probably continue in order to better serve them. This site and most of the material herein exist with the expressed consent and approval of Stephanie, but if anything in it offends, blame me, not her.
